my goal going into this project was to design an aesthetic laser-cut key tray that is unique to each user and easily customizable. made using laser-cut wood, the tray features a textured side that adds visual interest, while personalized engravings on the bottom make each piece unique. the objects in the engraving represent the user, and the product itself embodies function-forward design. i aimed for the key tray to seamlessly blend functionality with individuality, offering a practical yet meaningful accessory for everyday life.

For my specific tray, i've chosen objects that reflect my daily use, such as chapstick and keys, as well as symbols representing my experiences, like a yen coin that signifies my travels to japan. this graphic can be easily customized to reflect each user's unique preferences and experiences, making the tray a very personal and meaningful item.
